Goblet of Fire, Chapters 2 & 3

Since I took two days off between chapters this time instead of my usual one, I figured I’d come back with two chapters at once to make up for it! Not really, actually we’re once again into the chapters at the start of a book that fill lots of space with exposition explaining the plots of previous books, and only a little space with anything new. Thus the need to combine. Fortunately this is the last book that really rehashes in this way, so we shouldn’t need to worry about it in the future.

Regardless, the new chapters are up and Harry’s world is getting just a little bit darker:
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, chapters 2 & 3: ‘The Scar’ & ‘The Invitation’

By the way, I’ve now seen the new Half-Blood Prince movie twice – once in Omnimax (which I don’t recommend, by the way, the curved screen made us miss quite a bit) and once in a regular theatre. It’s definitely my favorite movie thus far. It has a few flaws – including an entire confrontation scene right in the middle that didn’t make any sense to me at all – but the tone was just right, the cinematography was beautiful, Dan’s acting has improved immeasurably, Bonnie Wright did a great job as Ginny, and Jim Broadbent (who plays Horace Slughorn) turned in what I thought was by FAR the best performance of any actor yet in the movies. It was also very, very good to have Steve Kloves back writing the screenplay – we missed him in the last movie. If you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend it…. ;)
