Order of the Phoenix, Chapter Twenty-Four

When I first launched this website last February, I did so only having posted the first five chapters of Philosopher’s Stone, through the end of Harry’s first trip to Diagon Alley. At the time, several of the artists who had agreed to be included were kind enough to publicize my site on their blogs, to start generating a bit of traffic. And I will never forget that by far the most frequent comment I received in that first week or so was something like this: “WHERE’S SNAPE?!?!?!?!?” Clearly my chapter-by-chapter concept was a bit lost on those folks, as Snape doesn’t even appear in the books until chapter seven, but they didn’t care – they just wanted drawings of their dear Potions Master.

While I doubt that any of the folks who sent me those e-mails and comments are still around, I know there are still a LOT of lurking Snape fans out there (my collection of portraits contains about four times as many Snapes as it does Harrys – my second most popular character) – so know that every time I come across a chapter like this one, I’m thinking of you and hearing your cheers coming through the tubes of the internet as I post the drawings. I will never understand your love for Snape (though I of course find him fascinating), but I can definitely appreciate the enormous amount of beautiful artwork he’s inspired!
