Order of the Phoenix, Chapters 32 & 33

Poor Harry can sure make things difficult for himself sometimes. There are really only two points in the books where I just want to yell at him, “WHY DIDN’T YOU THINK OF DOING THIS?!?!?” but, alas, he too is human and fallible and therefore options just don’t occur to him. The first time was of course flying the car to Hogwarts rather than, I don’t know, waiting by the car for Ron’s parents or sending Hedwig for help. The second time? In these chapters, where he elects to stick his head into the Grimmauld Place fire, rather than the much, much, much safer route of simply going to Grimmauld Place. After all, he’s planning on going to the Ministry of Magic, right? Which is also in London? As in, really close to Grimmauld Place? Sigh. I suppose the books would have been much less interesting if the kid were just a bit brighter….
