Half-Blood Prince, Chapter Eighteen

It’s funny that for all the attention given to Harry’s birthday, only once are we ever told that it’s another character’s birthday. By the time Half-Blood Prince was released, we knew some of the other characters’ birthdays, thanks to the calendar on J.K. Rowling’s (still fairly new) website, but we had never seen a celebration of Ron’s birthday, or Hermione’s, Hagrid’s, or anybody else’s. They simply aren’t all that important to the story, I suppose; after all, it is Harry’s name on the cover.

On the other hand, maybe the other characters simply heard what happened to Ron when his birthday was mentioned, and petitioned Rowling not to have their own included, too….

  8. Hi Josie, I hope everything is okay at your end.

  9. We don’t need an update, just a sign of life would be nice. Please? :)

  10. I’m with Mickey on this one… :S

  11. Remember we already went through this experience once in March?
Why don’t we just be patient and wait for Josie to come back after she’s settled with whatever’s keeping her busy right now?
I have complete faith in Josie’s determination to finish this project.

  12. I’m with Jason…so far. If it turns into 6 months, I’ll worry. :)

  13. Guys, I agree with you. Working on this site as Josie did in the past probably took a lot of her time, and could easily have an impact on her professional and personal lives. I was here with you, around March-April I think, when Josie disappeared for a while, and I was pleased with the concerns and support that her readers expressed on the site. I discovered this site about a year-ago now, and it is very refreshing and I love it… So I’ll wait as long as it takes. Josie, please feel no pressure… Your health and general well-being come first..

  14. JJJOOOOOHHHHNNNN!!!!! I AM SO BORED WITHOUT YOUR UPDATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. July 31st is Harry’s birthday, maybe we have new stuff on that occasion :)

  16. Oooh….we can only hope! :)

  17. Thanks for the comments, everyone – sorry to disappoint with the lack of updates for so long, I was disappointed in myself, too. :( Working on this site does take a LOT of time and real life has interfered twice now, as Mario points out. But, while I can’t promise a crazy number of updates, I’m hoping I’ll now be able to go without any more long breaks until I finish all seven books. It helps that my baby (who was born when I was working on book two, I believe) is now a year old, and thus much more manageable. :)
