Deathly Hallows, Chapter Nine

Hermione’s preparation never ceases to astonish me. We saw a few chapters ago that while Harry was grieving over Dumbledore, “neither knowing nor caring” about the identity of R.A.B., Hermione was already thinking ahead to their quest – and working out how to destroy Horcruxes. Now, it’s clear that she’s been prepared for days (if not weeks or months) to just take off on a moment’s notice. And that’s not to mention the fact that Harry or Ron probably couldn’t pack as thoroughly as she has if they had a lifetime to do it. It’s difficult to fathom how lost Harry and Ron would be without her. But it’s great for the story that Harry and Ron basically don’t have to worry about any of it… otherwise how long would these books have to be? :)

Very quickly before getting to the chapter, I also want to celebrate a milestone for the HPC – I’d like to welcome Pandora_Gold, who with a drawing in this chapter has officially become our ONE HUNDREDTH artist. The day this site debuted, in February of 2009, we had fifteen artists, so we’ve come a long way! I’ll be posting with more milestones in a few weeks, but this is an exciting one for me. *Thank You* to the one hundred folks (plus the fifteen or twenty still to come) who have made this site possible!
