Deathly Hallows, Chapter Eighteen

It blows my mind sometimes how patient Hermione is with Harry this year. Obviously we’re all willing to do a lot for his friends, but Harry has got to be one of the most demanding friends around. And yet while Harry and Ron seem to perceive Hermione’s main contribution to the trio as being her intelligence and knowledge, it’s becoming more and more clear that her understanding is critical to their friendship as well. She seems to have a way (that Ron doesn’t) of seeing Harry’s life from his perspective, understanding where he’s coming from, and patiently working through it with him. From a little girl who was rather lacking in social awareness, she’s grown up into quite a friend. Not to mention a crucial, crucial part of the fight against Voldemort.
